Yes indeed, that’s what I said. It would seem a pissing contest (sorry, but that’s the most accurate, if not polite, term as I can think of) has started between Michael Yon and a bunch of the milbloggers. Each side accuses the other of libel, poor reporting, copyright violations and various and sundry misdeeds. Major Chuck has a post here that is as good as any to get you started. If you’re on Facebook, you can follow Yon and get his side to the story. There is much name calling at this point, so get ready for the level of disagreement you’re going to find.
I have not idea who is right or wrong or if anyone is mostly either. My suspicion is that the war has dragged out so long that it is becoming internally politicized, much as Vietnam did. That indicates that it’s either time to get this thing won quickly (probably impossible at this point) or pull a Nixon, declare victory and bring the troops back home.
It seems that we truly never learn.
I am kind of leaning at this point – almost 10-years at war, we pull a Nixon.
And yes, we never learn as a Nation do we now.
Kind of sad if you ask me.
