Back to “busy”

While I’m not having migraines and the weather is warm (my weather station claims 81o at 1 PM today), I’m working outside. Much trimming of bushes and preparations for some gardening to get done. But I have a couple of things I want to bring to your attention.

First, the effects of war are starting to be felt here. According to GasBuddy, the national average price for a gallon of 87 octane is $3.70, with San Francisco prices hitting $5/gallon for the first time anywhere in US history. The old prepardedness rule was “half is empty” and I’ve changed it to “3/4 is empty” quite some time ago. I think we may need to consider “As soon as the gas hand twitches it’s time to fill up” going forward.

Second is this piece on the Segal Method from theprepared.org. With prices for land and homes spiraling, demand still high and money not so plentiful, something has to give. Buy your property, build your house as an off-grid structure, figure out how to drill your own well and so on. Stay out of sight of the tax man. Bear in mind they use aerial and satellite imagery, so keep the tree canopy intact or use appropriate camouflage.

Government has never been our friend, and now it’s actively our enemy. Treat it as such, bearing philosophers such as Sun Tzu in mind.

  1. Our local gas station price for regular jumped .40 since Tuesday, now 3.69 a gallon. The heating oil price went up .50 to 4.39 a gallon. It was quite a shock to see those prices. I’m told it’s higher elsewhere.
