Monday, I had occasion to be in my firewall. Looking at the system log, I was a little shocked to see the volume of incoming dropped connection attempts. That image above is roughly 3 minutes worth of log entries.
While working professionally, this volume of drops on my firewall would have been a very slow day. But in a residential environment, it really does cause me to raise that eyebrow.
We’ve always known the Intertubz was a dangerous place. It has been for many years now. But the threat level is rising constantly. This is an area in your defenses that you need to pay attention to. I suspect I’ll be upping my game soon enough.
