I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas.
The idealized Freehold Christmas |
Here at The Freehold we’ve celebrated Christmas Eve and are preparing for today’s festivities. Because of new kittens in the house, a tree was pretty much out of the question this year. We did a Christmas Garland instead. I put every Star Trek ornament I have on it and added 3 new ones to the collection. Everything on the mantle has it’s own story. Many were gifts from Mrs. Freeholder’s students over the years.
The reality |
Yesterday I decided to try my Dad’s Gumball Tree, thinking it might be something they wouldn’t climb. We bought that for him his last Christmas. The idea lasted about 2 minutes before the Destructo Kittens figured it out. So it had to move outside onto the deck.
The Gumball Tree |
*sigh* Maybe next Christmas we can have a tree again. Inside.
However, before retiring, I noticed something through the door and I thought I’d share it with you. Minus the personal attachments and the emotions of the day (for the last 3 years, Christmas has been something of a trial for the family for reasons), it may lack a little something. For me, it was one of those Zen moments.
I can hear Mrs. Freeholder chastising the “little turds” now. Time for me to get to work.
Merry Christmas!
