As I wait on Mrs Freeholder to prepare for a breakfast and small shopping expedition, I want to take a moment to bum you out.
Bang! It’s about current economic news (particularly “austerity”) and, in a way, why economics gets a bad rap as a science. Short version is that all countries are really asking for it by piling on debt, and that the outcome is predictable. The timing isn’t, and that’s why economics gets a bad rap. People think a science should be able to give them a hard and fast answer, as in “The US economy will collapse when the debt to GDP ratio reaches x. It doesn’t work that way.
Come to think of it, that same thought probably explains why prepping gets a bad rap in many circles. Those of us that prep do so for something that is basically predictably unpredictable. Many times, the individual prepper may never use their preps in the way they expected to, and so their efforts are considered “wasted”.
Yet those same preps, often meant for The End Of The World As We Know It (TEOTWAKI), are what tides us over during a weather event, unemployment or other less than end of the world event. But because it isn’t the end of the world, the prepper and their preps get no credit.
Luckily I don’t worry about getting credit. Keep calm and prep on, folks.
