In the aftermath of the Aurora, CO theater shooting, the usual suspects are howling at last night’s full moon how only the police and military should own guns, how our assertions that one or more armed citizens at the theater might have lead to a different ending are wrong and why rainbow-farting unicorns are for real and we’d see them if we just tried hard enough.
OK, I made the last one up. They aren’t saying that out loud.
Sgt. Steven Means of the Early, TX PD has had a practical demonstration of why the first two simply aren’t true.
According to our gun-banner enemies, if we have a firearm for self defense, some one will just take it away and turn it against us. I’m calling bullshit on that idea. If you’re a determined shooter, on either side of the equation, it simply won’t work that way. This is the Real World, not Hollywood, and Super Action Hero Guy isn’t going to show up and use his Kung-Fool Badass Ninja skilz to disarm the guy with his bare hands. It took two armed men, acting in concert, to stop him. Do your reading and you’ll see that this is the usual way of the world–it takes Good Guys with guns to stop Bad Guys with guns. And we are the Good Guys.
