The latest competitor is Astrobotic Technology, a spinoff of the Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University. Its goal: to mine the moon for water and fuel. And a deal with NASA plus a contract for rides on private rockets means the company may be the first to go back.
I would love nothing more than to see the commercial sector finally figure out that it’s raining soup 100 miles straight up, and that all you have to do to get rich is show up with a bucket.
I want to live to see the first beanstalk built. Carbon nanotubes show a lot of promise. The first company to build one will not take long to be the richest company in the world provided they can keep it out of government hands.
