I liked this so much, I made a post of it

(I was going to leave this a comment, but I decided to pull it up here for everyone to see.)

Bill notes the following in his comment on “And here we go…

You missed the point of the magazine paragraph. They know that tube mags are sporting. They then found that box magazines were sporting BECAUSE they could find no difference between them and tube magazines. This was a common sense interpretation, not a conspiracy to get rid of all shotguns forever.

Of course, that is not as exciting as a good conspiracy.

No, Bill, you’re reading things into that paragraph that simply aren’t there. They “know” no such thing.

“…the working group found no appreciable difference between integral tube magazines and removable box magazines. ”

Odd…it doesn’t say anything about sporting. Of course, that could be because the determination of whether a gun is “suitable for sporting purposes” is made on the basis of the entire gun. To the best of my knowledge, magazines are not judged in this manner, although the nature of the magazine is taken into account in the overall determination of suitability.

The determination that one sort of box magazine fed firearm is “not suitable for sporting purposes” has the potential to spill over to all such firearms, shotgun or not. This is how the anti-gunners work–nibbling our freedom away one little bit at a time. They take what they can get, whenever they can get it.

Couple this with laws at the state level in various states that firearms with tube magazines with a capacity exceeding x are illegal, and with current moves at the Federal level to bring up a magazine ban, and it does feel like a conspiracy–a conspiracy to deprive me of one of my pre-existing rights.

You smell of Fudd, sir, or perhaps more of “gun grabber”, given your use of their favorite term “common sense”. If you are the later, then feel free to try some more. Heck, this is the most fun I’ve had in a while on the blog.

If you are the former, then you need to educate yourself and figure out that they really are out to get your guns too. You’ll just be last on the list, because you were so cooperative.

(Oh, and Bill? One comment at a time. Nice try with the twofer:

But don’t let the conspiracy theories get in your way.

But Blogger ratted your ID out. Learn to edit before hitting that submit button. I used your second one because it was better written, but I figured folks might like to see the original version.)
