Because Da Prez is comin’ to town!
Woo-hoo.
The local TV media is mostly in pants-wetting mode this morning. “Obama is going to talk about JOBS!! Pant, pant!!!” What, he’s going to announce another ill-advised policy decision that will cost a bunch of jobs and drive up prices? Oh boy, I can’t wait.
Now here’s something for those of you who have never seen one of these dog-and-pony shows: the attendance estimate is 400-500 people, according to the local pants-wetters. Per WFMY TV, 150 or so will be students from Forsyth Tech (a local community college) and the rest will be local luminaries, up to our own beloved Governor Dimples. Gack.
Pay particular attention to the way the media, especially the nationals, either show the crowd or fail to show it. If it is shown, it will be from an angle and focus to maximize the apparent size. If it isn’t shown, well, you can figure that out, can’t you?
But rest assured, no matter how the size of the crowd is played, this visit isn’t for those 150 students, it’s for the political attendees. I’m betting that he is going to issue some sort of warning to “our enemies” that, no matter what those pesky voters said last month, he is in charge and they’d better follow his lead.
And they’d better remember that November is coming. Again and again. You want to keep those elected positions and fluff your ego? Pay attention to what we’re saying rather than the Bg O’s speech.
