There is a lot of back-and-forth theses days, among those who opine on things economic, about deflation and hyperinflation. Are we one, are the the other, could deflation become hyperinflation in a day, the advisability/inadvisability of both/either and so on and so forth. If you’re interested in the Dismal Science, these are some fascinating times. (Fascinating as in you just can’t look away from that terrible accident that is happening in front of your eyes….)
While I would never make such predictions with such a definite time line, Gonzalo Lira has not shied away from doing so. And if you have a tinfoil hat handy, he is predicting the end of our economic world in…2012. (Not that he believes it has anything to do with Mayans, comets or anything else other than our own stupidity and cupidity.)
Yet another viewpoint to take into your thinking, interesting reading, etc. I hear he’s now writing for ZeroHedge, which is pretty much Economic Armageddon Central these days, and worth your time to check if just as the source for worst-case scenario news and views.
When the government starts buying its own debt, you better go buy a wheelbarrow while you still can afford it, cause you're gonna need it!
