But when a Wall Street Journal columnist starts warning people to stock up on food, you have to wonder if the end is near.
“Load up the pantry,” says Manu Daftary, one of Wall Street’s top investors and the manager of the Quaker Strategic Growth mutual fund. “I think prices are going higher. People are too complacent. They think it isn’t going to happen here. But I don’t know how the food companies can absorb higher costs.”
It reminds me of the scene from Gremlins 2 where the little monster guys have taken over a stock brokers office and says “We’re advising our clients to stock up on canned goods and shotguns.”
It’s just lacking the humor of the original.
