The high cost of cheap goods

(Via Timebomb 2000)

Federal safety officials have ordered a tiny tire importer to recall as many as 450,000 tires that it bought from a Chinese manufacturer and sold to U.S. distributors.

Funny how everyone wanted to buy “cheap, high quality” Chinese goods and save a few bucks. Funny how we’ve shipped factory after factory, job after job, to China so we could do it. Funny how so many of my neighbors and acquaintances here who used to work in industries like furniture and textiles no longer can.

No so funny how it’s turning out, huh?

And if you do think this is funny, just wait until the counterfeit/substandard prescription drugs start turning up. That ought to be a real laugh riot.
