Still here

And still moving, unfortunately.

After 10 days of effort, the Freehold V2 is beginning to take a recognizable form. There are still boxes and piles galore, but they are decreasing in number and size by the day. I’ve spent a lot of time working on systems I didn’t expect to work on. For example, out of 8 telephone jacks, only 1 worked–intermittently–and it was in the basement. I’ve also had to rewire a bunch of cable TV, and I have set up a wireless network.

I’ve also unclogged gutters, waterproofed basement walls and so on. The Mountain Man was kind enough to put in a day helping me with the washer, dryer, freezer, and most importantly, the gun safe. Mrs. Freeholder has packed, unpacked and cleaned incessantly, as well as overseen the painting. Daughter and Son have pitched in as their abilities were suitable.

One of the nice moments was the painter complimenting me on how hard my kids would work. “You know, most people’s kids won’t do that.” You have to wonder if it’s a symptom of why so many things are screwed up in the country.

There’s still a lot to do, and that will continue for a while. For the time being, we have two houses, two yards to mow, some “Designed to Sell”-style renovations in The Freehold V1 to oversee, and so on.

However, I’m going to try to get back in my rut, er, back on my schedule and begin blogging on a semi-regular basis. Ya’ll hang in there….
